FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Do all the suppliers that participate with BidGenerics.com certify that their products are purchased either direct from U.S. APPROVED manufacturers or can trace their sales back to the manufacturers through other suppliers?
I personally buy from 8 of the participating suppliers. They are each licensed wholesalers who must conform to the law in this regard. When you set up an account with any of these suppliers they will typically ask you for copies of your licenses to verify that you are legitimate. I recommend all pharmacists do the same with any supplier(s) they buy from whether they buy from them through BidGenerics.com or not. There are some suppliers on the site I do not buy from that other stores do buy from and have requested be invited to participate. BidGenerics.com is a tool for the pharmacist to use to place his/her suppliers in a more competitive environment to drive prices lower and to simplify the ordering process. The pharmacies choose those suppliers - BidGenerics.com does not. I assume therefore the pharmacists have done their due diligence in verifying their suppliers and if not I strongly recommend they do. This should be their pharmacy's policy whether they buy through BidGenerics.com bid process or some other way.    (return to top)
What price should I put in the MAX PRICE field when bidding?
ALWAYS use your primary wholesaler's lowest contract price. NEVER play games with this number. Trying to "beat the system" by using an artificially low "Max Price" may end up causing your bid to fail and forcing you to buy the item "short" (off-line) at a price higher than you may have been able to obtain on bid.   (return to top)
When placing a bid if I am not sure what my PRIMARY WHOLESALER'S LOWEST CONTRACT PRICE is what should I put in the "Max Price" field?
Leave the field empty if you are unsure of your primary wholesaler's lowest contract price. You will receive the low price bid on the item even if the field is blank. This is referred to as bidding "Market". Bidding "Market" indicates you are willing to accept the best price the competitive bid process can provide on the day of the order.    (return to top)
How do I bid items that come packaged in cartons containing MULTIPLE DOSE PACKAGES? Example: Azithromycin 250 MG tablets come packaged in cartons of three dose packs of 6 tablets each. If I want to order one carton of 3 dose packs of 6 tablets each what do I enter in the "Order Qty" field.
A number of drugs come packaged this way. Birth control pills, Fluconazole and Azithromycin are a few examples. When entering "Order Qty" you are entering the number of units you want based on the "Package Qty" field. Selecting the entry Alprazolam 1 MG 100, indicates the "Package Qty" is 100 tablets per unit (bottle). If you wish to order one bottle of 100 tablets you would enter a 1 in the "Order Qty" field. Lets consider your example of Azithromycin 250 MG tablets. The database show this drug's "Package Qty" as being 18 tablets (cartons of 3 x 6 paks). This means their are a total of 18 tablets per order unit. For clarification the bracketed information tell you each unit is packaged as 3 dose packs of 6 tablets each. Therefore to order 18 tablets or 3 dose packs of 6 tablets each you would put a 1 in the "Order Qty" field. The same principal would be true for cartons of birth control tablets. Most of them are packaged in cartons of 6 dose packs or units of use containers of 28 tablets each. The "Package Qty" is shown in the database as 168 tablets. If you place say a 2 in the "Order Qty" field you are ordering 336 tablets or 12 unit of use containers.    (return to top)
With the original bid process it took a week or more to get drugs I needed. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE DRUGS using the All New BidGenerics.com Version 2.0?
The participating suppliers ship directly to your store. As soon as you finish placing an order Version 2.0 sends it out to your selected winning suppliers immediately for fulfillment. The time to receive your orders is the same as it would be had you ordered your merchandise directly from a supplier through any other mechanism like fax or phone. Most orders arrive in 2-3 days, depending upon the supplier's specifications. This could vary either way depending on time of day you placed you order and how far you are located from your selected winning suppliers.    (return to top)
I am having repeated PROBLEMS WITH A PARTICULAR SUPPLIER. This supplier is always bidding wrong, shorting me or sending the wrong item. I have spoke to the sales rep twice and I am still having problems. What can I do?
If you have pursued all rational steps to resolve these issues yet they continue, your ultimate option is to go to your STATUS PAGE, click on "Select my Suppliers" and un-check the box to the left of the supplier's name. This prevents them from receiving orders from your store. Don't forget to email them and tell them you have put them on "probation". Please cc: info@BidGenerics.com your notice to the supplier(s). Only use this as a last option particularly if you have been getting a lot of successfully bid (lowest priced) items from them. But ultimately it is your choice who you do business with-- You have complete control. Unlike a contract wholesaler/supplier, BidGenerics.com never ties you to any of the wholesalers/suppliers you order from. You have the option to discontinue ordering at ANY time from ANY of our suppliers. While Bidgenerics.com can't function as an arbitrator between buyers and suppliers we can warn suppliers about pharmacist's complaints and service issues. Please tell us of these issues by submitting them via the "Suggestion" box on your status page and we will do all we can to make sure the supplier is "put on notice".    (return to top)
With the original version of BidGenerics.com it was virtually impossible to SPECIFY MANUFACTURERS on my orders. Does Version 2.0 allow me to specify "brand" or manufacturer on a particular generic.
Yes. Version 2.0 allows you to specify a manufacturer. Be aware that by specifying a particular manufacturer you potentially limit the number of competing bids for that item and as a result you may not receive the lowest price available for that drug. It is recommend that you use the "Specify Manufacturer" field only if and when it is necessary.   (return to top)
What if a drug or package size I want to bid (order) ISN'T IN THE DATABASE?
Let us know by using the "Suggestion" box on your Pharmacy Status Page. Include the name of the drug, strength, package size, doseage, form and brand name. Requests are usually added the same day.   (return to top)

I was working on entering my order and had entered a number of quantities. I got busy with other things. When I came back to the website it had returned to log in and nothing was there I had entered.
Most websites will "kick the user off" after a period of inactivity to conserve server resources. The common time limit is 20 minutes. BidGenerics.com allows 60 minutes. We recommend saving your work as you go by clicking on "Save Order For Later." This will ensure you won't lose anything you have entered. Log out when not using the site - after clicking on "Save Order For Later" of course. You can log in and add to or change your order any time before submitting it.   (return to top)

WHAT CAN I expect to SAVE using BidGenerics.com?

What is the difference between test strips labeled "retail", "insurance" or nothing after the name?
"Retail" denoted the packing is for retail sales only. "Insurance" means the packaging is not for retail sale but for insurance sales only and no wording means the product is available in only one package type.   (return to top)
Why are there NO ORDER QUANTITY BOXES next to some of the drugs on "My Order Sheet"?
No Order Qty box indicates there are currently no offers from any of your selected supplies on that drug. A list of these items is provided to the suppliers to encourage them to enter prices for them as soon as possible.   (return to top)
